We’re looking for an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to safeguard our teams as we bridge the digital divide for underserved communities worldwide.
About the Role
As the EHS Manager at our Kirkland, WA production facility, you’ll lead compliance, risk management, and cultural integration of safety practices for Project Kuiper’s satellite development and manufacturing operations. This role is critical to ensuring safe, sustainable processes as we innovate in the aerospace sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop & Implement EHS Programs: Design compliance frameworks for safety, environmental permits, waste management, and regulatory reporting (Clean Air Act, RCRA, Clean Water Act).
- Risk Mitigation: Conduct safety audits, hazard assessments, and data-driven analytics to reduce risks in R&D, testing, and manufacturing environments.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with engineering, production, and leadership teams to embed EHS into daily operations.
- Training & Culture: Create engaging training programs to foster a proactive safety culture across all levels of the organization.
- Technical Leadership: Provide safety guidance for equipment design, laser/radiation safety protocols, and 5S workplace organization.
- Compliance Oversight: Manage stormwater sampling, chemical inventories, life safety audits, and emergency response plans.
Basic Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology, or related field.
- Experience:
- 5+ years in health and safety roles.
- 3+ years implementing Electrical Safety, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), laser/radiation safety programs.
- 5+ years managing environmental compliance (waste, water, air regulations).
- Export Control Requirement: Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or hold refugee/asylum status.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: Laser Safety Officer (LSO) or Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) credentials.
- Industry Expertise: Experience in aerospace, complex manufacturing, or R&D environments.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Mastery of Clean Air Act, RCRA, and Clean Water Act compliance.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to communicate complex safety concepts and build trust across teams.
