Amazon is seeking a Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Officer to join our dynamic AMZL (Amazon Logistics) team in the UAE. This role is critical to ensuring the safety of our employees as we continue to grow and deliver for customers across Abu Dhabi and Dubai. This opportunity is exclusively open to UAE Nationals.
About the Role
As a WHS Officer, you will drive safety initiatives at our delivery stations, ensuring compliance with Amazon’s global standards and local regulations. Reporting to the Country WHS Manager, you’ll play a hands-on role in fostering a safety-first culture and protecting our teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Risk Management: Conduct site risk assessments for current and new activities, and prepare emergency response plans.
- Safety Compliance: Implement WHS standards, conduct daily audits (e.g., GEMBA walks, vehicle/driver inspections), and manage Permit-to-Work reviews.
- Incident Response: Attend to workplace injuries, guide incident investigations, and ensure proper documentation in Gensuite.
- Training & Culture: Promote safety awareness through daily briefings, firefighting/first aid training, and PPE management.
- Data-Driven Solutions: Analyze safety data, track corrective actions (CAPA), and monitor heat index protocols to mitigate risks.
- Collaboration: Partner with operations and facilities teams to resolve unsafe conditions and align with global WHS objectives.
Basic Qualifications
- Education: NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Experience: Proven experience in WHS roles, with expertise in risk assessments and compliance.
- Skills:
- Fluent in English (written and verbal).
- Valid UAE driving license and own transport.
- Proficiency in data analysis and computer systems.
- Mindset: Team player with a bias for action and passion for self-development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: First Aid and CPR certifications.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or Science.
- Experience:
- Emergency response management.
- Advanced knowledge of safety analytics and machinery hazard assessments.
