About the Role
Amazon is seeking a dedicated Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Officer to join our team at the DED3 Sort Center in Haryana. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with Amazon’s safety policies and local regulations while fostering a culture of continuous improvement to protect employee well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with site operations teams to execute safety policies and ensure compliance with local/regional regulations.
- Lead lean initiatives and kaizens to reduce ergonomic and conditional risks in workplace processes.
- Conduct risk assessments, analyze safety data, and implement corrective actions.
- Train and mentor Operations Leaders on safety standards and policies.
- Manage a team of Safety Specialists, Safety Coordinators, and Onsite First Aid Associates, providing feedback and leadership development.
- Identify and integrate safety best practices into Amazon’s global standards.
- Communicate safety expectations clearly and consistently to all levels of the organization.
Basic Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial Safety, Mechanical, Civil, or related field).
- Experience:
- 2+ years in Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) roles.
- Experience managing multiple direct reports.
- Proficiency in lean principles and process improvement.
- Skills:
- Flexibility to work across shifts.
- Strong communication and training abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Experience:
- Safety management in a Sort Center, manufacturing, or similar environment with 200+ employees.
- Government Certified Safety Professional certification.
- Skills:
- Adaptability in fast-paced, evolving environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Expertise in developing departmental goals and strategies.
